I decided to take a few minutes of my recoup time to sign up for this awesome contest. The questions also seemed pretty fun to answer too :)
Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

TodaysMama (link to: http://bit.ly/tmwishlist) and GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What is your holiday wish for your family? Have a happy and healthy holiday! Enjoy the time with each other.
2. What is your Christmas morning tradition? We just started it two years ago, fresh monkey bread baking while we are opening presents. We get it ready Christmas Eve before bed. Just one more thing for the kiddos to be excited about.
3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be?

Mytilene Greece :) I have always dreamed of going to Greece to find out more of my great-great grandmother who I am named after. My runners up would be either England or Germany. I would love to this castle which happens to be in Bavaria where my "Becker" side comes from.
How do you make the holidays special without spending any money? We try to make treats for our extended family and friends. The most it is costing is our time. My extended family this year is also doing a "talent" gift exchange. We are sharing our talents of music, etc with each other instead of store bought gifts.
5. What games did you play with your family growing up? Monoploy and Dark Tower. I also remember when we got our atari, I love Pac-man.
6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood? Grandma's house on Christmas Eve. Also hanging the ornaments on the tree as a family while listening to Christmas music.
7. Where would you go for a Christmas-away-from-home trip? Most likely to Ohio. We've never spent a Christmas with my family in Ohio. Fortunately, we've been able to kidnap my parents for different years.
8. Check out GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year? DSi XL's for both Zoe and Emma. Call of Duty Black Ops for Adam and Del and then Donkey Kong Returns or Wii Sports for me and the munchkins. Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-8778027752296154072010-07-01T04:15:00.000-06:002010-07-01T04:15:09.520-06:00Pres Monson :)I just have to say, I thank Thee O God for a Prophet!!! For years I have sat back in silent admiration for our dear, loving prophet. I have been inspired and humbled by many of his wonderful teachings. I know that I'm not really supposed to share many of my work experiences but I couldn't help share a wonderful, humorous side of our prophet.
He said that he would try again later and that maybe he would take a drive. He joked and even mentioned taking a walk on the boardwalk. I don't know how it happened but all of a sudden he and I were talking about Monopoly and he was quizzing me on the different names on the Monopoly board. I have to admit I must be a lousy Monopoly player, I could only remember a few of the properties. I even cheated a little and tried to google the Monopoly board for help. Pres Monson just laughed and said he's played longer than I have. He knew every property. It was the best 10 minutes I have had in a very long time. I love our Prophet and I love his laughter! I also love that he took just a few minutes out of his busy schedule to joke with me and make me laugh.Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-1706949304617516982010-06-12T05:40:00.000-06:002010-06-12T05:40:37.836-06:00"Pajanimals" - "La-La-Lullaby"

This is Seth's favorite lullaby :) He loves to sing this before bed. I found this clip about Stephanie Nielson by accident. For the past year I have been reading her story as she deals with the struggles and challenges of starting her life over. I started reading just a few days before she was to come out of her coma. I was so inspired by this woman that I have never met. I am still inspired by her. There are some days that I think "why me". Why do I have to go through this? It is normally something small, something that seems big at the time but is really not. I read her words and it makes me stop and think, that "why me" moment is actually a blessing in disguise. It is a learning moment given to me by our Heavenly Father. It is up to me to decide, am I going to lay back down and curl up in a ball or am I going to stand up and face the situation head on. I also find myself looking at my family differently. I have always tried to make sure that I tell my children that I love them. I tell them that they are beautiful or handsome. But I want them to really believe those words. I do a little more hugging, a little less grouching :) I want them to know that not only Mom and Dad love them but that our Heavenly Father loves them, NO MATTER WHAT!

Just a few thoughts :) Happy Saturday!!Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-91296133240802875942010-04-30T05:25:00.000-06:002010-04-30T05:25:31.703-06:00Gratitude list for my "chillins"About two weeks ago, I went to pick up my vacuum and move it away from our stairs so noone would get hurt. Unfortunately, I forgot to tell myself that. As I picked it up and turned I felt a sharp pain go thru the upper shoulder area of my back. Great! I pulled something. That's ok I thought, it'll be ok tomorrow. Well, seems like tomorrow kept going and going and here we are two weeks worth of "tomorrows". I started going to the chiropractor last Thurs. I did not like him for probably the next 4 days. Yesterday I finally started to like him. The pain is going away :) No more feeling like my breaths been taken away. Woohoo!! I can also pick up Caleb out of his crib and not feel like I'm going to cry. Woohoo, even better. Who can resist picking up such a cute little dude! Anyway, my kiddos yesterday did some little but huge things for me. I don't think they really realize how much I appreciate it so I am making sure that all of you know how much I appreciate it :) Maybe it will leak back to them. It started out with Josh. He finished up the sememster at LDSBC 2 weeks ago and every morning he gets Emma and Seth breakfast and then takes Emma to school. Oh how I love that. I actually am getting more than 4 hrs of sleep on nights that I work. When he got back I heard some noise coming from the bathroom. At first I thought it was Seth in there playing with his tub toys. Low and behold it was actually Josh cleaning the bathroom. He must have been reading my mind. I have wanted to do that the past 3 days. You can only look at the same spot on the mirror for so long. I then heard my bedroom door get shut and then mumbling of Adam and Josh talking. Josh left for work and a little bit later, I hear Adam asking Zoe, Emma and Seth to help pick up toys, shoes, coats, whatever it was out of the front room and family room. WOW!!! That is huge. Normally I have to beg Adam to do stuff like that. Not only did he help the little kids pick-up and vacuum, he finished off his dishes, he mopped my kitchen floor (I LOVE the mopping fairy when he shows up) and he tiddied up the puppy area in the kitchen. I am soooooooo grateful that he did that for me. What a nice surprise!!

Other nice surprise....Zoe had her homework done right after school. She even had her reading and spelling words done that we normally do Friday mornings before school because we've both forgotten about it.

Again....WOW, are these my kids???? Ahhhh, it's moments like this that make me just smile from ear to ear.

HAPPY FRIDAY!Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-13400154292439073532010-02-01T17:40:00.000-07:002010-02-01T17:40:06.485-07:00Service Project UpdateThis is info I received from Bree Strong. Her mom visited our troop and discussed what her organization, Healing Hands for Haiti, does for the people of Haiti. She talked to the girls about the recent earthquake and what the people must be going through. Our troop collected items to make hygiene kits for her to take to Haiti last week. Here is update regarding the trip.

Dear Friends-

First of all I want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all the donations for Haiti we received!!! We received enough donations to make 140 hygiene kits (put together with love by Birkley & Peyton's girl scout troup & our neighborhood boy scouts) and a TON of clothing & blankets. We packed up all the hygiene kits and as much of the clothes as we thought they would take and delivered them to the pick up location Tuesday night. There was a TON of stuff.

I am amazed at the humble & giving people I am friends with and I am grateful for all of your willingness to jump at the chance to help someone else. You are each truly wonderful people! THANK YOU!

After all that, my mom didn't end up going! :) Apparently, things were a little disorganized and the plans of the group changed, which made it so my mom was not going to be able to accomplish the things she was planning on for Healing Hands for Haiti's compound. So, in an effort to be helpful, not harmful, she gave up her seat to a medical volunteer. I know it was hard for her not to go, but I know that with the changes that were being made, it didn't make a lot of sense for her to go anymore and she feels good about it.

I'm pretty sure our stuff got on the plane for Haiti...no one has called me to come and pick it up! :)

The leftover clothing & blankets you all donated will be shipped separately to Haiti with Healing Hands in the next few months.

Again, thank you for stepping up and showing me what it truly means to serve! THANK YOU!

As I'm sure all of you are aware, there has been a great deal of loss in the country of Haiti. When I met with my Girl Scouts on Tuesday night, I asked them if they were aware of the earthquake that had occured and if they would like to do something to help. Immediately, every hand went up. Before I had a chance to offer the suggestions to the girls that I had, they started pouring out ideas of different ways we could help. It ranged from making blankets, donating all of our cookie money they are currently trying to earn, sending clothing and so forth. We have decided upon two organizations that we would like to help. The first is Healing Hands for Haiti and the other is Soles 4 Souls. Healing Hands main focus in the past has been to help those who have disabilities obtain prosthetics and the rehabilitation they need. Soles 4 Souls collects new or gently used shoes to send to those in need.

I know that most of you have recently assisted my son Adam with his Eagle Project to make Hygiene Kits for the Road Home Shelter here in Midvale and we have greatly appreciated your support and generosity. You may also be wondering what you can do for those in Haiti. Our troop has decided to make hygiene kits as well to donate to Healing Hands and also collect shoes for Soles 4 Souls. We will only be collecting items until this coming Tues, Jan 26th so that we can assemble the kits and get them to Haiti as quickly as possible. If your willing to help with supplies, below is a list of what is needed. If you'd also like to help us assemble them, feel free to stop at our Ward building on Tues night at 6:30. We will be having a guest from Healing Hands for Haiti speaking to the girls about the service they render.

Hygiene kits provide disaster victims with basic items necessary for health and cleanliness.

Assembly Instructions
2 unbreakable combs (no sharp handles)
4 toothbrushes (packaged)
1 tube of toothpaste (6-8 oz., no pumps)
2 bars of soap (approximately 4 to 5 oz.)
2 hand towels (new towels, approximately 15" by 25". Please do not use dish towels or washcloths. To sew towels, serge or zigzag the edges of terry cloth to make a 15" by 25" towel.)
Place items in a heavy-duty, one-gallon sealable bag. Remove all air before sealing.

Items can be dropped off at my home between now and Tuesday or they can be delivered to the church on Tuesday night. I will be arriving at the church by 6pm.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via phone or email. I will be working my graveyard shift the remainder of the week and unable to take calls before 11:30am.

Thanks again for all the support!
I'm officially off maternity leave and trying to readjust. Caleb is starting to develop his little personality, during the week of Christmas he started laughing and smiling. Mommy also found out that he is ticklish under his arms. He's now sleeping about 4-5 hrs during the night which is soooooo nice. Dr Bean ok'd us to go ahead and give him cereal before bed so that it would help him sleep. I've never loved baby rice so much before. At first I joked that he was like a little clock. He was awake every 3 hrs on the button.

Caleb also weighed in at 13 lbs 2 oz during his 2 month check-up. A whopping 5 lb gain. He seems like such a happy little guy.

During his 2 month check-up we were told that we should go see a specialist. We (the dr and us) had noticed during his 2 week checkup that he had a small ridge in the middle of his forehead. We had hoped that over a course of time it would start to expand and balance out. Dr Bean rechecked it and referred us to Dr Faizi Siddiqi at PCMC. Upon meeting Dr Siddiqi, we had it confirmed that Caleb's metopic region (his forehead) had fused together prematurely. As he would grow, his skull would not be able to expand as his brain grew. If he did not have surgery he could possible have developmental delays, brain pressure that could cause seizures and problems with his sight and sinus. The condition is called Metopic Craniosynotosis. Since Caleb is so small, he is able to undergo a newer endoscopic procedure that will allow the doctors to cut the bone and release the two plates so that his skull can then grow normally. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaCcRugag80) With this new procedure, he will have a smaller amount of surgery time (2hrs), a smaller amount of blood lose and a shorter time in the hospital. If we wait, the surgery will be much more difficult and would require a longer surgery time, a night in ICU and a week in the hospital. It is scary but after meeting the doctors and researching the procedure, we are feeling more confident. Caleb will be having his surgery this Friday January 8th. We won't know the time until the night before. Caleb will also be wearing a little helmet after surgery to help his skull form correctly and to help protect his surgery area. He'll need to wear the helmet for about a year. We held a family fast yesterday and have given him a few blessings. Now we just wait, pray and have faith that everything will be just fine.

Here are a couple pics of my cutie pa-tootie. I was even able to get a few of his cute little smile.Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-7625644323832243802010-01-04T22:25:00.005-07:002010-01-04T22:40:59.145-07:00Frosty the Snowman....I can't believe it is already 2010!!! I also can't believe it's been 2 months since I last added anything to my poor little blog.

For Christmas, we get together with as many from our 3 families as possible. We have Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa Rich's, Christmas Day with Grandma and Grandpa Price and then we squeeze in my two sisters either Christmas night or the next day. I am so grateful that they are pretty flexible :) Anyway, one of our traditions is to exchange Christmas treats among families each year. One of the treats we received this year was a snowman kit. It was so awesome!! The kids loved it. It snowed a few days ago so on New Years Day, Zoe Emma and Seth decided that they would build a snowman. While they were doing it, you could occasionally hear one of the girls singing the song. Seth also had his little tongue out trying to catch snowflakes and mommy was peeking out the front window to see how cute they all were. I couldn't resist getting a few snapshots and then grabbing the camcorder to record a snowball fight and the creation of another snowperson. Daddy popped out too for a few minutes to help the girls put the buttons in the right place for Frosty's mouth.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicLkghiCEHoax0-cq11o5wl7RgAMVaGfv76GIoVAthb6rT855zcXwEojQb-zF5_8HexcYekI9ulxcsuIdso0b9VDOxhjmj74eJVSXhw-N2o16MTqXIl_rKW8KK9-eh7ocvEDvAIUjg1wk/s320/376.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423125342198981778" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgf8vpsMErz_CuAQBio1Q90APvNaSUGy-14uglUp5p2N0yHUaBJ441_QP2SIfwQMDEcCZuv2aW4o0bMTpuRq3hurNdyxfMpd8SA_YpZ2RARrKpucYFp8nPiQOk4e2MpS5Stqxqvq2GPbM/s320/374.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423125040152360434" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLXSdcwAOVcpW13227Jx4FjUUKWHjeZy60RIm5E35Bgg5pG1uTIYP9s452uBZ90gvWP39kNSGtd6d7DXmcLteeMqQN3Q5ZZzA1Y1lLy-BhQ9Fsbq4Xa9AoNN_MIJ9nWIn2Jd9hL0KEn4I/s320/371.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423125028553080082" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJD-veUZrTn_K2LHMwlqzVMMB8nJmD0oryK90my36gcWxcaDmqNO4VIoVOVAYhM1DC0rlc1Z5PG4TGmnFuocg76OhLKzdBkEAiGBPYYpP3u3DoeEL2wsMp-hyyPicar0TNFi9wX8QAtlc/s320/370.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423125027999332786" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4kHh8ga-NswSNfwRGJVU9A04WTECLH9bFIfGuSuqe5i-_zt_ppOgItzCHuZmtnyID5UJGdPJlkcXjRHxt-IKvWIBMLIQTE0ugKr6SI5noa-Q9i3ijU-9-CTjXBkhEB8aYDAGGkeTjJc/s320/368.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423125016270828162" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh7iMWuZOC3pZO10upJVDeYhkEA2JnsAVpj1hNBRDpn-nqRqvz2Jve1rTfQjzqk-GPRCiOQVYNW69xGauGoUa6agsLD_TOVl0snVLT5rv6l8Rm4t3BMpZdvrKE3Yjv7-MgcItcQmIQ1tA/s320/362.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423125008498016370" />Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-1280179362608354762009-10-12T01:34:00.003-06:002009-10-12T02:02:22.977-06:00Time for some good news :)I can't believe October is here!! It feels like an eternity has passed. Most if not all of our family and friends are aware that I lost my step-dad, Papa Chuck, on Sept 12th. He fought a very hard fight but due to the complications that arose caused by his injuries, his body grew very weary and he would not survive without life-support. We as a family agreed to remove the life-support and let him return to our Heavenly Father. My family here in Utah was able to travel back to Ohio to attend the funeral. 2 days before I left, my Grandma Arnett and step-mom Margaret were going into their home and fell on the steps leading up onto the porch. Grandma sustained 4 fractured vertebrae and Mom sustained a fractured wrist. When the hospital did the MRI to see the condition of the fractures on Grandma they found that she had cancer in the spine and it was developing rapidly. Chemo would not be beneficial for her so everyone involved agreed to just make her as comfortable as possible. 2 days prior to the fall, they feel that she had a stroke which may have caused her to be unbalanced at the time she was trying to get into the house. While in the hospital she had another stroke and was declining further. By the time I had returned to Ohio on Sept 16th, they did not expect Grandma to make it through the weekend. She actually passed away at 5:45am the morning of Papa Chucks funeral, Sept 18th. Talk about a double whammy! The best thing that I loved and will remember about Grandma is her smile and always making you feel good. She was also very blunt and told you exactly what she thought of a situation.
I titled this blog as "good news" because even with all of the tragedy our family has sustained, I feel blessed that in 6 more days my little Caleb will arrive. I am sad that he won't be able to know my Dad or my Papa Chuck but am grateful for the knowledge that he has been able to be with them both for the past month. Makes me wonder what secrets they have shared with him. lol. More good news comes in the form of my nieces and nephews. I am going to be a "great" auntie beginning in April. My nephew Sam's fiance,Sarah, is due on April 15th, my niece Jeweli on April 14th and then on Tina's side of the family my niece Mindy is due on April 19th. I love spring :) I have also just found out tonight that my nephew Jimmy and his wife Missi may be expecting their second baby in June.
I just had a "Lion King" moment and thought of the song Circle of Life......

PS....My mom, Kate, is coming out to stay with us for Thanksgiving, Caleb's blessing and Christmas. I'm glad that she is coming and am looking forward to getting to spend some down time with her. I know that my kiddos are excited to see Grandma too:)Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-8414581443794194392009-09-30T10:05:00.005-06:002009-09-30T10:22:00.699-06:00Another Testament of ChirstI found this today while looking at Deseret Books webpage. If you haven't seen the Reflections of Christ book or DVD yet, you really should. This slideshow is by the same photographer.

http://www.anothertestamentofchrist.com/

Emma and I were watching this morning and I loved the questions and comments that she made.....1)This makes me think of Grandpa Chuck, 2)I wonder what Jesus's voice sounds like, 3)He really died for all the bad things that we do or will do? It was a great opportunity to share just a few simple feelings with her and let her see how happy those before us were when he came to the America's after he was crucified. She really liked when he was with the children and giving them hugs and kisses. She mentioned at that point that she was happy to be his little sister.

Priceless :)Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-50026450469248644842009-09-11T05:33:00.004-06:002009-09-11T06:20:11.857-06:00Papa Chuck....<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGRwkis4mfJSMj0xvCGBcFYhKMQCHDLzhsU3ldOkt1CBwW91MCl7gBo8N48i1TczXST79i2oI7iFB-c-IDSS4DPjXeMliZCLVJ4yDyG4QpYZr27TlVrfaTxBaDdpkpUoQDlLsc5M0ymOs/s320/n520360946_1719826_4321%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380182485931842418" />

(I couldn't resist this picture, he was modeling the santa hat for the my girlies)

Well, I haven't posted on here for a few weeks. So much has happened in that time. I really don't know where to start. On Aug 24th my stepdad, Papa Chuck, was in a car accident involving him on his scooter and a pick-up truck. He was on his way home from work at about dusk and the truck pulled out in front of him, claiming not to see him, and hit him. The jerk was scared so left the scene and didn't bother to even call 911. He did later return but not til after Papa had been taken to the hospital via careflight. I won't get into details about him because one, he isnt worth wasting my energy on at the moment, and two....well I really don't want to get going on such a horrible person that would just leave another human being lying in the middle of the road.

The last two and half weeks have been a huge roller coaster for my family, especially my mother. We were called on Monday night, the 24th, late saying that during the surgery to repair one of two broken femurs, that Papa's blood pressure had dropped drastically and that the right side of his heart had almost completely given out. He was not expected to survive and we were told to come home quickly if we wanted to say good-bye. After loosing my daddy only two short years ago, Papa has been given a lot of "Dad" duties I don't think he expected. He will not and has never tried to replace my dad but he has made me feel like I am as much his blood as any of his other children. He has always given me and my other siblings an open door policy so to speak, treating us with love and respect.

Anyway, we (Liz, Jayne and I) made it home Wed morning. Cherrie made it home Wed afternoon and Jennifer by Wed night. Papa by this time had received 3 priesthood blessings by wonderful Priesthood leaders and we were waiting. He slowly progressed to our joy but would still need more surgeries. He survived a surgery that following Sunday to close his abdomen that had to be opened to allow the ventilator to do it's job....then stablize.....Thurs he underwent the next surgery to repair his second femur. Again, his blood pressure dropped very low and he had to be revived. The girls and I had to return to Utah on Saturday afternoon (the 5th) unfortunately to get back to "life". We have received daily updates on progress or in our case, the lack of progress. Papa has not been awake since Aug 25th and without blood pressure medicines at this time he would be gone. Today we are to conference call with my family in Ohio and the doctors to determine what we are to do further, what can be done further and what Papa's chances are to still recover.

I am not by any means loosing my hope but I am trying to be realistic at his odds. I like my family, pray every day that he will be healed and able to come home. I have seen miracles in the past few weeks that I am very grateful for as well. I have seen the wonderful blessings of the priesthood in action and have a greater appreciation and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. For the knowledge that Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us and for the fact that he knows us so well that he is there to comfort us no matter what the trial. He never gives us more that "He" knows we can bare. We just have to remember that we must be patient and willing to accept his plan and his will. Not always an easy task. I was just looking at a blog for Paul Cardall, a wonderful pianist that has had a major heart condition since he was 22 hrs old. He is now 36. He wrote that his illness was a blessing. He also found the quote I will close with from Elder Neal A. Maxwell. Most of you know that Elder Maxwell suffered from a long battle of leukemia that eventually took his life in July 2004.

Philosopher and spiritual leader Neal A. Maxwell wrote, “God loves us and, loving us, has placed us here to cope with challenges which he will place before us. I'm not sure we can always understand the implications of his love, because his love will call us at times to do things we may wonder about, and we may be confronted with circumstances we would rather not face. I believe with all my heart that because God loves us there are some particularized challenges that he will deliver to each of us. He will customize the curriculum for each of us in order to teach us the things we most need to know. He will set before us in life what we need, not always what we like. And this will require us to accept with all our hearts--particularly your generation--the truth that there is divine design in each of our lives and that you have rendezvous to keep with destiny, individually and collectively.”

For anyone reading, please keep Papa in your prayers and also my mom. Love ya! meBuckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-52794775780033618202009-08-17T17:04:00.003-06:002009-08-17T17:14:32.768-06:00$500 Wal-mart GC contest....we'll see.......So I'm entering a contest for a $500 GC to Walmart to update Josh and Adam's to the new "Your Zone" collection. Their poor room has bunk beds that I think used to be in the MTC eons ago. They don't complain though. Hopefully if I win they will be able to get a much needed update :) We'll see. Here's a picture of what I think would be a fun addition for them and the link to where you can enter the contest too if you want. They also have some way cute "girlie" items.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6rQFClUdTNUdZ1k-NwkdnwtSaXtPgu1Y8fcPd_6p9avh1t6iqtjIQppX1Hq0TGwW0AwkNxjTNrxaBn-6ysyCV3nKKqHlHQuwvemZZE-dSnaAEPrQEK_zu8y1gE1mbkryEzgKjwaWnXg4/s320/0002998654101_500X500%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371073972947696146" />

http://www.ahappyhippymom.com/2009/08/walmart-your-zone-bedroom-makeover-and-500-gc-giveaway.html/comment-page-23#comment-10285Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-74077337671469166482009-08-03T11:06:00.003-06:002009-08-03T11:21:28.388-06:00All about my Dad :)<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 249px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwcDvcKAQKzM9bKO7E28NHLxyP-27ywC_peJC1VVCLHv609Oojn5HB6k6KGV9xSbaFKbk42oeTz-LjJbh_TX7IJWEfMEgNu30yvZrJ5AV79VlWbIktkZNrdA_m2heAXyRGlHNfSeguJcY/s320/scan0023.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365788276060078386" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH6g5ZMjQhZtXW2fn6sznGADlALoMJD345lJ_iK7rIP6ne4ucZTLtjHwyfN6D73zdEzZX_w6RCJt3_M1qK1vQvC4cWrPhrBuNMBevtVBYayN6PKWw5zpacJj4qcV-JO7fXxwYsDU3lozs/s320/scan0004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365788263657388882" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 247px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrbfQW7zOfTXaA1V8VH0e4sjF4aOwsxqeGvzSM1vWmON5x_v5V5bEjwD8fY4iacvQdKzE0vkv4EHliDIpXCSzziQFwOGP9XtMkGMgADAp8gslMyyN1l6WAjcMMtrBhh_khHBfpFtxDxEg/s320/scan0003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365788261634891506" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 215px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHM_Ov4eyZuxnw9eNpR3aVHr6UK6uMETyznG0D2mFd97KWXaPdv776vbEZwGv93QXsMU7XCkbjbYFHnGGNRQkYODunrcKphTrEapa4ccOrSUL7sahCd8OQKLFDRi1CwfKJ6IbGxK9kj6Q/s320/scan0002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365788257502095266" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 254px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhirdxPnYCLTE2PGclM4bUIQHD4DrCgm4OrjzuIgsf9c270Pp2MeNI70KykxPUWXV8H6vM9WrLArC63Evj6sMv9KSuzZroGuR-ma0fANiYgVIdEgPgBR56C6zGivP6ci4EhnuszDVfgKoY/s320/scan0001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365788251620469074" />
So today's blog is all about my daddy. It's hard to believe that it has now been two years since he left us. It still feels like yesterday I was packing to make the long trip home to say my good-byes. I think the best part of my remember "what was I doing at this time two years ago" was talking to him on the phone the day before his heart attack. My little sis had just flown in from Ohio and we were checking in with him to let him know that she had arrived. The last thing we said on the phone was "I love you Papa" and "I love you too kiddo". I miss those phone calls a ton but thinking of them make me smile whenever I start to miss him. He always had a way of making me smile or think of the up side even when I knew he might be having a bad day.

Some of the things that helped me get through his funeral and the weeks that slowly passed was thinking of some of the funny things we did growing up. Dad nicknaming me "skunk", buying me a 5lb box of Twizzlers - just because he knew I loved them, teaching me how to drive a tractor, me asking him where we were going and him answering "crazy", me then asking him if I can drive him and him saying that I already was. Him trying to build Zoe and Emma's bedroom. Jack-hammering my bathroom floor and leaving a big hole because his drill broke. Teaching me how to put a worm on my own hooks and then getting to use "his" fishing pole. Getting to buy my own fishing pole. Dad making Zoe and Emma laugh whenever he came to visit. I love his chuckle :)Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-18617316227509909052009-07-10T00:25:00.002-06:002009-07-10T00:28:35.752-06:00Browsing Facebook.....While browsing on facebook, I came across this great quote by Pres. Packer. Not sure the talk or where it came from but I still really liked it.

Happy Friday :)

"Faith, to be faith, must center around something that is not known.
Faith, to be faith, must go beyond that for which there is confirming evidence.
Faith, to be faith, must go into the unknown.
Faith, to be faith, must walk to the edge of the light and then a few steps into the darkness.
If everything has to be known, if everything has to be explained, if everything has to be certified, then there is no need for faith. Indeed there is no room for it."
-Elder Boyd K. Someone had been chosen to host a group of friends and family for Domino's Pizza to try some of their new stuff. I thought, Hey, why not see what this is all about. Needless to say, I went on houseparty.com and entered. There are literally thousands of people who submit to get to host these parties, in Utah I happened to be one of the 20 chosen for the new American Legends Pizza Party. The party was to be scheduled for June 20th. With Father's Day the next day I decided what better way to honor our American Legend Dads then by giving them American Legend Pizza???

We invited all of the Prices and Schows over and were able to to try 5 of the 6 new pizza's. Domino's sent out a party pack that contained a $75 gift certificate, a game and some coupons. We were able to try the new Philly Cheese Steak, Honolulu Hawaiian, Memphis BBQ, Cali Bacon Ranch and the Cali Veggie. I even had a little bit of $$ left over to buy two of the new pasta bread bowls to try out. Very YUMMY!!!

I think the family favorites were the Philly, Hawaiian and the Cali Bacon Ranch. We got rained out for our movie on the garage so the kids opted for Guitar Hero on the Wii and the grown ups had fun playing just chatting and Aunt Kimmie got to play with new nephew Ben :)

Thanks for a fun night Domino's!!Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-67536199800789562232009-07-02T03:59:00.007-06:002009-07-02T04:37:52.766-06:00I survived a night of Brownies!!<img style="display:block; I had all of these great plans for a fun and event filled evening. There was going to be smores, a campfire, charades and then of course girls giggling in the tent next to mine. Well, due to the weather, none of that happened. It's amazing what mother nature will throw at you to make you just put your arms in the air and say I give up. The girls kept good spirits and even though the tent got wet and we had to move inside, I think they had a fun night. We never did get to do our smores but they did "decorate" the first girl to fall asleep with a "yarn" spiderweb. Our second leader had something come up with her family so she didn't make it. We were very grateful that a wonderful Grandma was willing to step in so we could go to the zoo Saturday morning. The pictures I have are all of course "after" the storm moved us all inside. Del & Josh were our handy bacon makers for breakfast. I think they had a lot of fun eating as much as cooking :)

Our wonderful Grandma helper, Elaine Ferguson, helped a ton by driving us in her Suburban and helping the girls with our animal scavenger hunt. The girls had to find animals with certain types of habitats as well as finding animals with certain types of fur/scales/camouflaging. We were able to ride on the new carousel as well. They also made their hats that they wore to the zoo to keep the sun off.Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-59037295037679898062009-06-22T19:41:00.002-06:002009-06-22T19:43:19.196-06:00And a week later.......I was hoping to be able to post a cute little picture of our ultrasound but alas, my home computer doesn't like me right now and won't let me scan pictures.

For those that we haven't told yet, our darling little Halloween baby is going to be a BOY :) :)Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-26724979896310840262009-06-12T06:05:00.002-06:002009-06-12T06:05:43.148-06:00Wooohoooo.....Only 2 more hours til Ultrasound......any last minute guess's on what baby will be?Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-88494721189055127322009-06-04T05:48:00.003-06:002009-06-04T06:04:46.190-06:00A little homesick....<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVo_9BfbZJyPCBiXU0hmawymNd200RtxJaJOdmNuCLEXoMDVzt-IgxsnrK4MKNKhf_3XLpraHuQoCLSVFeccZf5LmPBdZ5hBJNuG2PJJTN-wpPUq6rajc3BQaMQttshM8myITuq6a5Z5k/s320/Charleston+Falls.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343441724007078626" />

This is one of my favorite places back home. This is huge achievement for both of them. Their auditions consisted of singing a solo, reciting a monologue and then dancing. From what I heard the group dances were pretty grouling.

I have to admit, I'm not excited for the amount of time that is going to be required and the fact that I feel I will never see Adam during his senior year of high school, but I am VERY proud of him for sticking with it and not giving up on a major goal. I wish him all the best and can't wait to see him on stage :) Love ya bud!!!Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-1322229864013148732009-05-07T03:01:00.003-06:002009-05-07T03:10:20.252-06:00My lil' Seth....not so littleEvery year I take the little kids to get their birthday pictures done in November and December. Since I wanted to get a new family picture with everyone I decided to wait. My sister Kris and her daughter Dawn are here visiting from Ohio and Dawn wanted to get a few pictures taken of her little boy AJ who is 5 months old. I told her about Kiddie Kandids and thought hey, I should get Seth's done since I don't have a single pic of him on my "kid" shelf other than when he turned 1. Emma was bummed that we didn't get her pic taken but I promised her we would go soon. I'm also looking forward to doing Adam's senior pics for next year as well as Josh's mission (keep your fingers crossed) pics in the next month or two. Anyway, here are the ones of my "not" so lil' guy who is now 2 1/2.....I love how they turned out.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 228px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSyUS2h6PcoCDiHxFZdKpNlACBfIjseZCdF_VCGE807MdpNRBHZ72KuTjPNCiADQfc9HZ0WtFJEfdgAZK4ws6Q7N-E1fAQImIksbfJn2fHefX8QxAUoXsxctGDXEkMpBbB8w0ceMUIPWM/s320/Seth+4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5333006444012384626" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 228px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisDOUOHS7xAZ4Pe04ZpbLloV_nWR0N-uy-9Hemi_ns-SNvfIoz5Os39p623hEtyRQMi1y3y-sPxYFIaQJPt7SPzXig2WHVGZqmhIZRkTsTn_3H3VwAbevqg2wk4VJiTmDo_Wvn2H3jZw0/s320/Seth+3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5333006438003290930" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 228px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZci4xlEIfNJEXms7xV7oDwBV2iXYr1rHBOzYhtAEtzjAr07ULikBGI5F_5DzHZDoxb0TS9lPwFvSumKLrjiIejL0j3U0sAq7uQULoQKjLDSwIldPg6owXNQvWxG0jhRJy9c-UrkMnB8s/s320/Seth+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5333006438021836674" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 228px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip8mNz3E0jDxuX-hQa6OJGiR1REOBVUXEIY7gW3hBUzmfmkmEKCZT8WkBa02iI7XbetGeGUAW41BS2gPGN8-gUdUQMaCqxUGiMqAePpaoSC6AtKjXaxdDXjz82_rqYbyNzpJ8hooUVI0s/s320/Seth+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5333006433464239778" />Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945043267111456166.post-61061852742251958992009-04-22T23:52:00.001-06:002009-04-22T23:53:49.653-06:00Our new addition.....Sorry there are no picks but I had my first baby check up yesterday. Holy Cow, I feel like it should still be Thanksgiving or Christmas with how our weather has been. This past Sunday we got together with family for a pre-Easter party. We did BBQ on the grill, which was awesome. The weather was nice enough for what seemed one day only so that the kids didn't have to wear a winter coat. Here are a few pics of my cute little ones and their cousins.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiKKVge2NqWtL6g_EoRggnEFMLSGlCEzK-dLzq1HbFUurWrczbhBXJCmjIuCbwmeLrqYo4UJpogZvul_lINCiyW0YqpZB_L-bu0tggLp2d8y6xBko2JijWALbEJyaPVtg4ESJjKDXz14g/s320/037.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323025924433726226" />
My nephew Kaiden
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHI5PYCSchd7tBNuQwqQqXpHtgK4OWfogIUi_6vQaTwRuebyG8rjoMmclpEqVGPk1-2Hf9Htai7u-vqv3un6f2o-5fIIiiVbNqStyKVgg2Oj9QzzKKTiLKrP9mLC1_OF_npE2jIgtKYgg/s320/036.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323025925535107506" />
Me nephews Dallas and Jackson by the tree.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnOgzcKYQB5uM5NjWRLULBfIPBWF9mJqZP9UFZuzmy0ahzp4lU5cXX3kDMzzzfuPtLY-9Pk_2DY6zMqqM3zHoXSwl-qhf8KNml3rl2PqPw6amH8EEqH4pVYmQnery4QAVJ4hyphenhyphenf98ym1hI/s320/041.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323025495458592034" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY3McjE1sahPqm0kEgykwPN5xXxj2ISqNimjbgdx9eM4ozZsD_YQm3egVqUYqLUys1IX0gqnzGZTic7rqreY7XXkWRYRDhuAuWsBs-jZirxYuNFAgoFfvNfkVLjgQz8Wt5gK4ioGozvos/s320/051.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323025494154302258" />
Josh with Emma and Seth
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Krq-z3Hn067Ku1g4ZeEai94bpY6sZ2ky5NS42Me4zk2Po0OTbG0UX8swMLE5VfFsDZo9DX8-cbXLTX4a2_Ajl6VxUl3vdKXYGXVG9oxb0TXNHi63L3iaayogPFujBtNczw397LRtfk0/s320/042.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323025488002946994" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWFwRO0iWrjE4UGomHrKjb-EPMvuaA5UPmpN6iUxaUl6-n_K0GG412PYvpo1t4YqSTCc_Ua8K5EVUmZ7I-tiMMSltZ9-YxJk0Pcaf9HcAYdcjq1YudEtSwIVBlph0j8RE6nlw0L6SFBnk/s320/048.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323026790890611794" />
I think I am going to call Adam the "yo-yo man". She missed 2 things on her kata I think so she was able to receive her Purple Belt Second Degree. You can tell by the pics she was not very happy. We are proud of her no matter what. I know she is going to ace it when we are done with this next session. Her sensei also said that she got an A+ on her sparring with other students. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpyj4ldIipSvzemahWOD7fVH7v8b1giVLvTSuD_Vqd9lf8h0FpZuxEr1M6zzQVJMKeNru9URHhIN1cddlcThZBp262Alh61_tMHk8dx5b-YqOpADq1cLF-hHoopEv44jsSl5JZqK5KaSg/s320/032.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323022752081092546" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_bmA9S_yrBjVAKmCV8GCDUwjmwwHqMySuUP6iC8CKfRlOXaqpT1HGaZSDyXhtpej5rKREjsxTWdJCCkZ98BGrhNkkAyZBsNgkGhYJIIEiqIxpg4qulABJhnLUm_sfPNupHI0VyKN5Zs4/s320/030.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323022749335351762" />
The "Graduation" night was also pretty cool because our Sensei got to present his first black belt. His son is a black belt as well but since he was related Sensei could not do the final teaching and have him under his "group". Needless to say, the first black belt was a GIRL!!! Girls rock! Her name is Olivia and we have watched her move up since she was a purple belt. She can really move. Anyway, she and Zoe have had a lot of fun in class together and have done some sparring. Never know, maybe Zoe will be Sensei's second female black belt :)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_sYb3vk1cvqTfoEe7e-bu7KeZUkhDL_TVOIyTettLvcRN7lq05rVxxVDEIS304zqbFErvB_J0SS9L_Q9FI-u7xmYA2i4J53Uig94mJ2uYp_Yil-wCvfgTVAJ_RAiegBgiWVv3Avwt9-g/s320/034.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323023022948107010" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXcqk2-BNl6_ptcSl0GuMXXbUu0iriF6CtSjNiYhQI6Tp6zLumT6R4jLncicZlBNmxZPbX3dSxMWtbPIFFiIXUKqR3iekNufr1gx-xLGeIbjn7GPe8SJgh_jvUPTK9C5SzCwxbxmCHV_I/s320/033.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323023019613080098" />Buckeye Nuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18178941721534936026noreply@blogger.com0
